STATUS:
Currently active contract administration
TIME FRAME Start:
Successful projects announced in 2006/07. Funding out until 2015.
TIME FRAME End:

DESCRIPTION:
Originally the fund was announced as a A$500 million competitive grant fund. It is now administered by the Australian Government's Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism.

Four projects are currently supported through grants totalling $285 million with a fifth project (Callide Oxyfuel) now being funded through the National Low Emissions Coal Initiative (NLECI). Uncommitted LETDF funds have been returned to consolidated revenue.
EXPERIENCE:
LETDF funds available for projects with a carbon sequestration element or capability are:
A$60 million for the Gorgon CCS Project,
A$50 million for CS Energy's Oxyfuel project now funded through NLECI,
A$100 million for HRL Limited's IDGCC project, and
A$50 million for International Power (Technologies) dry brown coal CCS project.
