DESCRIPTION:
The scheme of the Centres for Environment-friendly Energy Research (CEER) was established in 2008 in order to develop expertise and promote innovation within selected areas of environment-friendly energy, transport and CO2 management. Close cooperation between the research communities and users is encouraged. Public funding is limited to 50 per cent. Each centre receives between NOK 10 and 20 million per year from the Research Council of Norway.
The centres have been established for a maximum period of eight years (an initial five-year period with the possibility of a three-year extension).
Eight centres were selected, two of which focus on CCS: the BIGCCS-centre, headed by SINTEF in Trondheim and SUCCESS, which is headed by Christian Michelsen Research in Bergen.
EXPERIENCE:
The scheme builds on experiences with the Centres for Research-based Innovation (SFI) and Norwegian Centres of Excellence (SFF)
