This is a voluntary program designed to assist Oklahomans to take advantage of opportunities created by existing carbon markets. Oklahoma for the underground injection of carbon dioxide verifies for the issuance of carbon credits. Both the Carbon Council of Oklahoma (CCO2) and the Oklahoma Conservation Commission (OCC) worked to establish the procedure by which the credits will be issued.
The program is a fee-based service provided to participating aggregators who contract with agriculture producers and forest landowners to sell their offsets. It is also offered to Oklahoma companies injecting CO2 underground. Project-related documents are reviewed to determine if they substantiate the amount of carbon dioxide that an applicant claims to have sequestered. Includes mass balance calculation of injected CO2 and CO2 recovered with oil. The OCC verification adds a layer of assurance that buyers of CO2 offsets are getting what they pay for.
EXPERIENCE:
At this time, the Carbon Program does not accept applications for verification from individual offset providers.
