DESCRIPTION:
Up to US $8 billion in loan guarantees is available to be dispensed by the U.S. Department of Energy until September 30, 2009.
Up to US $6 billion in guarantees is available for loans on coal-based power generation and industrial gasification activities at retrofitted and new facilities that incorporate carbon capture and sequestration or other beneficial use of carbon, as well as $2 billion for advanced coal gasification.
Prior to the issuance of a loan guarantee solicitation, DOE is directed to submit a loan guarantee implementation plan within 45 days of a solicitation, defining the award levels and eligible technology.
