5th Capacity Building in Emerging Economies Workshop

The 5th CSLF Capacity Building in Emerging Economies Workshop was held in Salvador, Brazil, on September 8-9, 2008. There were a total of 110 attendees from 11 countries, including many from Brazil’s energy sector. The Workshop was held in conjunction with a Petrobras seminar on CCS that had 24 sessions on topics that capture; compression; transportation; utilization in the oil and gas industries; storage; measurement, monitoring, and validation; CCS policy, management, regulation, education, and public perception; pilot and demonstration projects; CCS sustainability and ethics; and risk analysis.  Petrobras provided special sessions within their seminar for the International Energy Agency, the Society for Petroleum Engineers, the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association, and the Brazilian Climate Change and Carbon Sequestration Network, and a special session wherein six invited papers were presented by CSLF Members.
