Demonstration of an Oxyfuel Combustion System

Nominators: United Kingdom (lead) and France

Recognized by the CSLF at its London Ministerial meeting in October 2009, this project located at Renfrew, Scotland, UK, will demonstrate oxyfuel technology on a full-scale 40-megawatt burner. The goal of the project is to gather sufficient data to establish the operational envelope of a full-scale oxyfuel burner and to determine the performance characteristics of the oxyfuel combustion process at such a scale and across a range of operating conditions. Data from the project will be used to develop advanced computer models of the oxyfuel combustion process, which will be utilized in the design of large oxyfuel boilers.
