Deploying CCS at scale needs not only technical development but also political frameworks such as incentives for CCS developers and operators. One essential path for carbon capture and storage (CCS) is geological CO2 storage. R&D for the deployment of geological CO2 storage in Japan is being done by the Geological Carbon Dioxide Storage Technology Research Association (GCS), in a project commissioned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). In the CCS Technical Workshop 2022, both project updates and policy design will be highlighted by international and domestic experts. GCS will report on its recent work on the demonstration of cutting-edge geological CO2 storage technologies, including the field demonstration of optic fibre measurement. The CCS Technical Workshop 2022 will be held in a hybrid style that combines physical conference with live streaming. There is no fee for the workshop. Register for the workshop.
