Recognizing that carbon capture and storage (CCS) development varies from region to region, the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF) in 2017 is implementing regional stakeholder meetings designed to accurately reflect the diverse needs in order to achieve CCS success in each geographic region.

CSLF European Regional Stakeholder Meeting

October 6, 2017, Brussels, Belgium
10:00–14:15

CO2GeoNet and the UK Carbon Capture and Storage Association (CCSA), chairs, cordially invite you to save the date for the first CSLF Regional European Meeting. This event aims to collate stakeholder views on driving CCS toward large-scale deployment in Europe, and we sincerely hope you can join us for this dialogue.

The agenda will give an overview of the event aims and outcomes, a review of the current state of play of CCS in Europe, and will allow plenty of time for interactive discussions via two panel sessions. Panel discussion 1: How can we accelerate deployment of CCS at scale in Europe? Panel discussion 2: How can we communicate effectively to build support for CCS in Europe? A buffet lunch will be provided.

The first panel discussion will reflect on the lessons learned from over 20 years of developing CCS in Europe, and how stakeholders can use this experience to advance CCS projects to the scale needed in the 2020s and 2030s. The discussion will further focus on the practical actions needed from government and industry to build a robust policy framework for the large-scale deployment of CCS across multiple sectors. Supporting financial instruments to enable CCS projects in Europe will also be discussed.

The second panel discussion will examine how to effectively communicate the benefits of developing CCS in Europe to support sustainable growth across multiple sectors and industrial regions. The session will consider the role of stakeholders in supporting effective engagement and opportunities for CSLF as an inter-governmental body to help to forge these relationships.
